Embroidered Travelling Mirror England, 17th Century Coloured wools, silks, metal threads with raised work Dimensions: 10in x 12.5in 0.25 x 0.23m This rare and beautiful double-sided textile contains the original mirror plate, revealed by opening the pair of hinged doors, which are lined with original pink silk. The biblical designs were probably taken from contemporary engravings. The unusual shape of the mirror, its quality and state of preservation make this a unique survival. |
